Very cool. Integrating ai into directional guidance would be interesting improvement

I'm pretty fit and it turns 10 hour death marches into a more fun sort of work out. That being said I got the cheap version and the app waves a better mode in front of your face that you have no way of getting unless you buy the better hardware, which I find annoying.

Not always évident if you have heavy legs and weak muscles. It really pushes but you need to have enough energy to follow the rythm. My recommendation is to start with short distances. An harness is also necessary for more comfort.

Hyper shell pro x review

The good, the bad, and the unsightly.

Intro - I have long covid, with PEM triggered by my heart rate going too high for too long. (Over 110 for more than five minutes is too much.)

The good - over the course of a week, I
- [ ] walked up a hill without stopping, and my child noticed that my speed was noticeably faster. A walk that would normally take 45 minutes took 30. My heart rate stayed around 100 the whole time. No crash the next day.
- [ ] Wore it to do some shopping in the mall so that I could walk a bit faster and the whole thing wouldn’t take too long or be exhausting
- [ ] Wore the hyper shell in the airport to avoid being super slow walking to the gate or on the ramp. Security was no issue - I popped it off and out it in the tray, walked through security, and popped it back on again. I wore it on the plane and stowed it under the seat in front of me. On one flight it fit exactly horizontally (my width setting was three) and on the other I had to fit it diagonally.
- [ ] Helped pack up and a move a dorm room down a flight of stairs. I walked up the flight of stairs maybe five times. Then we moved the stuff into storage which involved pushing a cart down a long hall way. No crash the next day.
- [ ] The next day I used it to walk around some gardens for about two hours, which included hills and stairs. No crashing.
- [ ] I was on 50% eco mode the whole time, except for one hill where I moved to 75% and wow, that thing will move you!
- [ ] Once you get a hang of the buckles, it is super easy to take on and off
- [ ] I know the women especially will want to know this - you can use the bathroom without taking it off! The thigh buckles are low enough and the brace is to the front, so it doesn’t interfere with pants sliding down and up.
- [ ] It looks cool! (According to my teenagers!)

The bad - these arent really bad, just things to be aware of
- [ ] Charging takes a looooong time.
- [ ] There is sometimes a delay in transitioning when going up or down stairs and there is a landing where you have to take a few steps.
- [ ] Either the webbing is stretching out or the buckles slip a bit. I found I had to tighten them frequently (I don’t think I’m losing weight that fast!)
- [ ] When wearing a backpack, I have to have it quite high on my back. If it rests on the battery back, it changes the fit of the waist and occasionally makes it think it isn’t on me properly.
- [ ] It feels weird to walk after wearing it - my legs feel heavy for about an hour after. After a few days of this, the adjustment is quicker.
- [ ] My muscles are a bit sore after wearing it, but I think this is because it forces me to walk with better posture and also I’m just using my legs more than I used to.

The unsightly
- [ ] Some of the stitching is coming undone.
- [ ] The hard case looks nifty but is too big for travelling with. A fabric bag would be great for keeping all the straps contained when tucking it under the airplane seat or even just putting it in the back seat.

Summary
This thing is life changing. I almost cried the first time I wore it out and walked up the hill. I can walk blocks at a steady pace that is still a bit slower than my pre-covid pace, but much faster than what I was doing. I’m tired after, but not long covid exhausted. I can walk up hills. I expect I will be able to do short easy hikes, which I thought were gone forever. Like I said, life-changing.
