The X Ultra was designed with a clear goal: achieve 30 km of assisted movement on a single battery. This range is currently the highest in its category and meets the demands of hikers seeking all-day usability. To put this into perspective, beginner hikers typically cover 10 to 15 km per day, intermediate hikers reach 15 to 20 km, and experienced hikers can go as far as 20 to 30 km.
The X Ultra also supports battery swapping, allowing users to carry a second battery and double the total range to 60 km. This flexibility makes it suitable for nearly all hiking scenarios and ensures users can move with confidence. For shorter trips or beginners, the Hypershell Go provides 15 km of assisted range.
Smarter Power Management and Recovery

Unlike the earlier motor, which borrowed from humanoid robotics, the new one is tailored to human muscle patterns, speed, and gait. This upgrade boosts energy efficiency to 90%, a 25% improvement over the first generation, while cutting heat loss.

Improved Energy Recovery
Every step includes “positive work,” where muscles generate force, and “negative work,” where muscles absorb impact or brake movement. The X Ultra’s recovery system harnesses this negative work, such as during downhill stretches or deceleration, and converts it into electricity to recharge the battery. This adds 5–10% more range, letting users go farther without carrying larger batteries.
Together, these refinements double the overall endurance and prove that performance comes from many small optimizations working in harmony.
Practical Design
Each X Ultra battery is a 72 Wh, 5000 mAh lithium-ion polymer pack. The battery is modular and swappable, enabling users to extend range easily. Charging is fast and flexible, with USB-C PD support and a four-port hub that allows multiple batteries to charge in parallel. A full charge takes approximately 88 minutes with a 65 W charger.
The batteries are also built to perform in real-world conditions. Standard operating temperatures range from minus 10 to 60 degrees Celsius, and the anti-cold version works from minus 20 to 60 degrees Celsius, ensuring consistent performance in diverse environments.
