I was skeptical this would help. I have MS and my left foot drops and I cannot lift my foot more than an itch off the ground. I knew after the third step I took that this was going to be a game changer for me. I am now able to perform tasks I was unable to perform before using the exoskeleton. Looking forward to new releases.
Makes charging of multiple batteries easy and convenient. I no longer have to charge batteries one at a time on the HyperShell but can charge them at the same time.
As a 73-year-old in great physical condition, I was intrigued by the Hypershell X, a consumer exoskeleton designed to assist with walking and hiking. Strapped around the hips with extensions on the thighs, it provides a subtle lift to each step, making movement feel effortless. While most reviews focus on its use for recreational hiking, I put it to the test in a more practical setting: landscaping. Maintaining a 1.5-acre property, I used the Hypershell X for about eight hours of labor-intensive tasks, including wielding a 20+ pound commercial-grade leaf blower, a similar-weight sprayer, weed eating, and spreading 123 bags of mulch for a new garden. At 30% power assist, it noticeably reduced fatigue, allowing me to tackle the same workload with less strain. The device is intuitive, comfortable for extended wear, and a game-changer for physically demanding jobs. I’d recommend the Hypershell X not only to landscapers and construction workers but also to anyone looking to make their work or leisurely walks more manageable. It’s an innovative tool that blends cutting-edge tech with real-world utility, helping me get the job done while staying energized.
I have a diagnosis of Hereditary Spastic Paraparesis, which translates into having my lower extremity muscles stiffen as I age. The Hypershell allows me to walk again because it assists my legs to lift my feet to walk. This is a total game changer for me. It's hard to put into works how significant this is to make my life better. Thank you for this awesome device
I had a stroke effecting my left side. I was very weak I had to use a wheelchair for long distances and a cane for short distances. Even though it's not FDA approved I bought the Hypershell Pro. It has got me out of the wheelchair and walking and cycling which built strength and now I can walk unassisted after only a few weeks use. My doctors and physical therapists are amazed.
I did have to make a few mods:
Outdoor Research 3 point hiking suspenders attached to the waist belt.
Universal Chest Strap from Amazon added to suspenders.
1 inch Backpack Shoulder pads from Amazon on the shoulder straps, waist strap and chest strap. The added advantage is also a lighter feeling rig.
This allowed me to wear the Hypershell comfortably. I have a belly roll and even though it's just a men's waist size of 38 it kept slipping down. Now there is no slippage. The added advantage is also a lighter feeling rig and you can still wear a backpack for add pouches to the straps to carry things since you lose easy access to pockets.
These mods would extend the fit of the Hypershell to those of us with jelly belly rolls, lol.
As a disabled person, you just don't know how great this is. Now do the lower leg, arms, and hands please, ;-p.
Would have been 5 stars if shoulder straps were already available. Would be lovely if it got FDA approval as well.
It's a lifechanger! I suffer from LGMD, a progressive muscle disease. I have trouble walking because of weakened upper thigh muscles. I have to walk with my legs straight, knees locked to prevent buckling. I am out of breath walking 500 meters or up a flight of stairs, with Hypershell I walked almost 8 km. the other day including climbing up and down a dike twice without any problems. The only reason I wrote almost perfect in the title is that I would like the battery in another place so I can sit down and lean back. Than I could wear them in my house all.day... Thank you for giving me back a lot of quality of life!
Dear Hypershell Team,
I would like to take a moment to thank you because you have changed my life. I am Lennart from Germany, and I had a big dream: to walk hand in hand with my little daughter through her world, and you have made that dream come true.
I have been in a wheelchair for three years. A chronic muscle weakness, as a result of a Covid infection, completely changed my life on April 24, 2022, overnight.
Despite the daily challenges in a wheelchair, I try to lead an active life, have started studying, working, and staying optimistic. But with the birth of my daughter, one wish grew stronger than ever: to walk again.
Online, I came across your exoskeleton and ordered the Hypershell Pro X to try it out. And against all skepticism: yesterday I went for a 3.5 km walk with my daughter. For the first time in over three years. Simply an incredible feeling! With your exoskeleton, I can now stand and walk for a few hours a day—and experience the world from a new perspective with my daughter.
I believe your product has the potential to help many more people with similar conditions as mine. You have created a product that brings joy back into the lives of people like me. I can’t thank you enough for that!
I'm mostly housebound since 01.2024 after one mild Covid infection because taking the stairs down and/or up makes me crash hard. Trying for a better housing solution unfortunately didn't work so I tried the exoskeleton and I'm pretty happy with it. I'm still wobbly when walking and need my walker for a longer distance, but the device's support helps a lot. In fact, it helps so much that I need to actively stop myself from going too fast. I am really happy about this purchase.
Easy to get started
Easy to install
Strange sensations at first but I got at ease pretty quickly.
Only significant draw back: in spire of réactivité set up high, sometimes assistance doesn’t start as expected (trigger by légèrement motion too « soft/slow/late » ?)
Minor draw back: putting back in case is a challenge !
I tried DNS and Hypershell is far superior.
I watched a ton of reviews and read through the promos but even that didn't prepare me for how cool these things are. They really do work.
The suit it self seems to work quite well a appears to be of good quality. I had trouble at first trying to get the controller to work as advertised. The instructions aren't completely correct but I figured it out. the customer service was quite good. it took more than a day to get a response but that was dues to their location
I have been using my hypershell for several weeks now and whilst it took some time to work out what "level" in settings works for me it has significantly improved my day to day mobility. It reduces the amount of effort needed, gait, style stamina and most importantly confidence. I have MS and whilst not medically approved (yet) it should be.
I’ve been using my Hypershell Pro for about a month now. What was unexpected is the ease of use with the phone app , to manage different modes instead of using the side “push button mode”. That is a nice enhancement. I also like the cumulation of stats that you can review as part of an exercise regime.
The fit really requires the right clothing that can help hold the exoskeleton in place. Which is a problem in summer heat where you would want to wear shorts, t-shirt because it really needs fabric to better hold the adjusting straps. The first time I put it on wearing a pair of shorts and t-shirt the cinching of the straps needed multiple tightening because the exoskeleton was sliding and slipping downwards from the waist and the thighs.
The waist adjustments are simply clunky when you adjust the hip width. Then when you tighten around the waist so that it's snug, but when you start walking or moving it starts to slide downwards. It's like your pants are falling down. I would recommend better straps and a snap on suspender so that the shoulders would help pull up as the body moves through walking, hiking and stair climbing.
The other straps that are problematic is the straps that you cinch around each thigh above the knee. Although there is a height adjuster so that you can find that sweet spot above your knees, the natural diameter toward the knee means the strap is not going to tight enough to hold and results in the knee attachments sliding downwards too.
So, when the knee straps loosen and slide downwards and the waist straps loosen with movement the whole exoskeleton feels like it is going to wind up around your ankles. Even though the exoskeleton won't fall that far, it just feels like it's drooping and hanging off of you.
Extra clothing helps give the strapping a better hold overall, but not nearly enough to be comfortable with movement.
The functionality of this Hypershell X is excellent and is helpful. It seems to give enough extra energy to help reduce effort and for me and my COPD is really helpful tackling climbing stairs, hiking and some walking longer without the need to stressed breathing.
Refining the fit is really needed. I know it could be complex because of the varied body types, but a simple added suspender could be a nice improvement for a more comfortable fit.
Overall build quality is 4 stars. The fit is probably 2 stars. The function is 4.5 stars. So, overall I gave it 3 stars.
Very cool tech but there's some hiccups needing ironed out. For example if I slow down even a bit it deactivates, and after using it for a while when it deactivates it practically almost put you on the ground. But otherwise it's comfortable and easy to use.
It works perfect! You'll have a refill in the least amount of time.
Less usable on the go, for this a smaller single battery charger would be nice.
The unit has been helpful in many different areas and I'm gonna explain that in a future note. I'm using the unit to assist in my walking, I have a spine injury that's incomplete. I've used the unit to walk with a couple different types of walkers and it's been very effective in simplifying the walk and extending the distance. The problem I run into is when I'm using it with crutches. The speed of my gating is slower and it goes to idle mode often. My right leg hip flexor needs additional assistance and that's where it goes to idle mode too soon. There may be some adjustments that can fix this and if so I'm not aware of them. This is where I'm looking for guidance.
The other issue I have is the case, it's very difficult2 put the unit back into the case and close the case properly often and I have to use bungee cords to close the case. Is there another case that I can purchase that would enable me to better Carry the unit? Thank you Tom Kimmeth, [****]
I need an skeleton with another tight under the knees.
After a week of use, I have a big pain in my knees. So, I need support with the force of my knees.
